How much space do I need?

Today, Hard drives, and other storage devices get bigger and bigger, and cheaper and cheaper. So with hard drives at all different sizes, how do you know which one will fit your needs? We will look at some things to keep in mind when deciding how much space to get for your computer.

Now obviously your budget come into play pretty quickly. The more money you have the more space you can get. But lets assume you have a unlimited amount of money. So what other factors do you base your decision on? Well it all depends on what you use your computer for. The casual user, who just uses the internet and sends some email, well you don't need very much space, 40 gigs will do you fine. On the other hand some one who uses any kind of media on the computer, such as photos, music, videos, needs lots of space. People who take photos or listens to music or does video editing, need 120, 250, maybe even 500 gigs of space. So it really depends on what you use the computer for. Gamers need a pretty good amount of space because new games are as big as 2gigs, for one game. So is more space always better? Typically yes, if you can afford it why not. However at some point it just becomes a waste, if you are never going to come close to using all of it.
