Google selling print ads

Google selling print ads: "Google has quietly expanded its advertising business beyond the Internet to print magazines, marking a major shift in strategy for the Web's most popular search engine.

The Mountain View company has recently started reselling advertising space in technology publications such as PC Magazine, Maximum PC and MacAddict to small companies.

Google is buying full pages in magazines and then subdividing them into smaller lots -- a quarter page, for example -- that clients can then fill with their own marketing messages, according to advertisers participating in the program.

They speculated that Google used its high profile and long-term contracts to get big discounts for the pages it bought from the magazines. Profits likely come from reselling the space at a higher rate."
